AI Champions: Why Every Organization Needs AI Leaders on Their Team

Artificial intelligence is transforming organizations. And yes—ours too.

But instead of treating AI as merely a technology project, we deliberately chose a different path:

We introduced the role of AI Champions in every team.

Not as a token gesture.

Not as a side task.

But as a clearly defined responsibility.

Why we created this role

AI is evolving rapidly. New tools, new possibilities, and new areas of application are emerging almost daily. Without clear lines of responsibility, one of two things often happens:

  • AI remains abstract and is rarely used.
  • Individuals experiment a lot—but their knowledge remains isolated.

Both of these factors hinder genuine transformation.

It was clear to us: If AI is strategically relevant, it needs to be embedded in the organization’s structure.

The Role of AI Champions

Our AI champions play a key role on the team. Their job is to:

to engage with AI in a conscious and ongoing manner
identify specific use cases within your own field
Initiating and supporting experiments
Making knowledge accessible
To provide guidance in times of uncertainty

It’s not about being “the AI expert.” It’s about providing impetus and actively driving development forward.

AI champions are enablers. They bridge the gap between technology and day-to-day operations.

Why this is crucial

Transformation doesn’t happen because of tools.

It happens because of people who take responsibility.

A new AI tool alone won’t change the way we work. But if there’s someone on the team who:

  • Unlocks potential
  • Answers questions
  • Enables experimentation
  • And stays committed

… that’s when real change happens.

AI as a Team Responsibility

With the introduction of AI Champions, we have deliberately placed AI where it needs to make an impact: within the team.

Not exclusively controlled from a central location.

Not distributed randomly.

But with clear accountability.

Our conviction is clear:

Every team needs someone who doesn’t just use AI—but drives it forward.

After all, sustainable transformation doesn’t start with choosing the right tools. It starts with the people who shape it.
